02 Jun HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors launches One Couple, One Solicitor divorce service for amicable separating couples
Hertfordshire, 02 June 2026 – HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors has launched a new One Couple, One Lawyer family law service for couples who want to manage divorce, civil partnership dissolution or separation in a more constructive and cooperative way.
The service follows the Resolution Together approach, a best practice model developed by Resolution for lawyers providing joint legal advice to separating couples. It enables one specially trained solicitor to advise both parties together, helping them understand their legal options and work towards fair arrangements for finances, property and children.
The new service will be led by Roger Weller, an experienced family law solicitor at HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors, who is trained to practise the Resolution Together approach.
The launch comes as more couples seek alternatives to traditional adversarial divorce. Since the introduction of no-fault divorce in England and Wales under the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020, couples no longer need to blame one another for the breakdown of the marriage. This has created more opportunity for separating couples to approach divorce in a practical and less confrontational way.
Recent research by Dr Rachael Blakey of the University of Warwick, published in 2025, also highlighted the potential benefits of the one lawyer, two clients model. The research found that joint representation can be a highly effective, cost-efficient and constructive option for low-conflict separating couples who are committed to reaching agreement without litigation.
Under the One Couple, One Lawyer model, both parties attend meetings together and hear the same legal advice at the same time. The process can cover divorce or dissolution, financial disclosure, financial settlements, property arrangements and arrangements for children. Where agreement is reached, the solicitor can help formalise the outcome, including through a financial consent order where appropriate.

It is not right for every case, and careful screening is essential. But where both parties are open, honest and committed to a fair outcome, it can offer a calmer and more constructive route through separation.”
The service is designed for couples who are on reasonably amicable terms, are willing to provide full and frank financial disclosure, and want to avoid unnecessary conflict. It will not be suitable where there are concerns about domestic abuse, coercive control, a serious imbalance of power, significant mistrust or non-disclosure of finances.
