As experts in equine law, we are excited to be sponsoring a young horse and her rider as she participates in a range of competitions in England.
The beautiful horse is Elsie (aka Southway Rose Gold). She is a 7-year-old Welsh Section D. And her owner and competing rider is our very own Emma White, litigation and equine law paralegal.
Emma has been riding since she was five years old and has already enjoyed success in the show ring with her other horse Olive, who, at 20 years old, has now happily retired from the limelight and is enjoying a quieter life.
Emma and Elsie started competing this year (2024) in both showing and showjumping competitions after two years of training and preparation. They have already won a first, second, and fourth prize in showjumping, as well as several wins in showing.
They have also qualified for the Sunshine Tour Championship at Hickstead in September 2024. They will be competing in the 65cm and 70cm showjumping categories.
This is an amazing achievement for Emma and Elsie. Up until two years ago, Elsie had not been ridden and had no experience of any equine competitions.
Emma said, “Elsie is so brave and ready to give everything a go. She has a real natural talent, and her confidence is rubbing off on me, as showjumping has really never been my thing!”
Emma and Elsie will spend the summer preparing for Hickstead and also trying out a variety of disciplines, including dressage. Emma said, “I want to find out what areas bring her the most joy; she is so up for it all, but I think it’s important to also know what she loves the most. We are a partnership, so we both need to enjoy the journey.”
